Food should never be left in the danger zone for an extended period of time. Not even cooking related memes. The 'danger zone' for bacterial growth is 5-63 degrees so food needs to be kept out of this temperature zone as much as possible. Thing on the counter overnight is just fine since you don't actually eat chicken uncooked. I went out drinking after that, and forgot to put them back in the fridge that night so I could cook them today. I'll be eating them tonight.
